Digital inspection template starter set
A useful inspection template is short enough to complete consistently and specific enough to support an estimate and customer decision.

Use three result states
Pass, advise and fail are easier to understand than an arbitrary score. Define what each state means and require a note when an item is not inspected.

Start with core sections
A general light-duty template can cover vehicle information, warning indicators, tires, brakes, steering and suspension, underhood, fluids, lighting, visibility and a road-test summary.

Capture evidence selectively
Require measurements where they change the decision, such as tread depth or brake lining. Use photos to explain conditions, not to create unnecessary technician work.

Connect findings to recommendations
A failed or advisory item should lead to a standardized service recommendation, priority, supporting note and estimate line without retyping the same finding.

Govern template changes
Name an owner, version templates and review completion patterns. If technicians routinely skip an item, clarify it, move it or remove it.
